Course overview

Skin damage can have a negative impact on physical and psychosocial health and may lead to further health complications and high healthcare costs. This course aims to improve healthcare workers knowledge in; assessing the skin, identifying patients at risk of skin breakdown or with skin damage, and arriving at an appropriate and effective care plan.

The course consists of three presentations delivered by healthcare experts with many years of practical experience in assessing and treating skin conditions.
 

1 hour and 30 minutes of verifiable CPD.

  • Learning outcomes

    The learning outcomes for this online training programme are that trainees will:

    1. Gain an understanding of effective varicose eczema management and how to assess the integrity of surrounding skin.
    2. Obtain an awareness of the safe and effective use of emollients on various skin conditions
    3. Learn from case studies showing the results of emollient application on common skin conditions.

  • Course content

    The course includes the following three 3 modules:

    • Module 1: Skin integrity in practice, by Dr George Moncrieff, GP, North Oxfordshire
    • Module 2: Chronic varicose eczema — new options for skin care, by Julie Van Onselen, Dermatology Education Partnership Ltd.
    • Module 3: Case studies with octenicare repair creme, by Rosie Callaghan, Tissue Viability Specialist Nurse, Worcestershire Health and Care Trust


    Each module is accompanied by a multiple choice test to assess the trainee's understanding of the content. When all module tests are completed the trainee will receive a personalised certificate.
